How to use the EPUB to PDF converter
- Select an EPUB that has no DRM.
- Convert. Most novels are ready within 5 to 20 seconds.
- Download the PDF to print, annotate or share.
From reflowing text to A4 pages
An EPUB has no fixed pages; its text adapts to the screen. calibre lays the book out on A4 sheets with roughly 17 mm margins and a page number at the bottom, using any fonts embedded in the EPUB and embedding them again in the PDF.
Pictures, tables, italics, footnote links and the cover all remain. Type size follows the publisher’s stylesheet, so text looks as it would in a standard reading view.
Page count and printing
A4 is larger than a paperback page, yet ebook stylesheets use generous margins and type, so a 300-page novel may land anywhere between 250 and 400 A4 pages. Printing two pages per sheet saves paper when you print a whole book.
Comics and picture books in fixed-layout EPUB have their own page shapes, so they can leave white space on A4, although nothing is left out.
Upload, convert, delete
Rendering an ebook as PDF needs calibre, so the EPUB travels over HTTPS to our server and is converted in a process without internet access.
The EPUB and the PDF are deleted right after the result is returned; no copy of the book stays with us.
Questions
Are footnote links clickable in the PDF?
Footnote links from the EPUB are kept, so tapping or clicking a note marker jumps to the note in the PDF.
Is the PDF searchable?
Yes. The text stays real text, so you can search, select and copy passages, which helps when writing notes or citing a book.
Can I get US Letter pages?
Not at the moment; output is A4. Your printer’s fit-to-page setting prints it on Letter, trimming only a few millimetres of margin.
Will a Kobo or Google Play book convert?
Only if it was sold DRM-free. Protected EPUBs are encrypted and return an error.
