How to use the Ebook Converter
- Add one or more ebooks without DRM.
- In the Convert to menu, choose the format your device or app expects.
- Convert, then download the books individually or as one ZIP.
Matching the format to the reader
EPUB is read by Kobo and PocketBook devices, by Apple Books and Google Play Books, and by most Android apps, and Amazon’s Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB too. When copying to a Kindle by USB, AZW3 is the better pick because it keeps fonts, tables and CSS that MOBI loses.
Only Kindle hardware and apps older than 2012 still need MOBI. FB2 is common in Russian-language libraries. Choose PDF to print, DOCX to edit, and plain text when you only want the words.
What the new file keeps
Chapters, the table of contents, the cover and title and author metadata move into the new format. PDF output uses A4 pages with page numbers and a bookmark for every chapter listed in the contents.
Books sold with DRM by Amazon, Kobo or Google are encrypted, so conversion fails with an error message. Free classics from Project Gutenberg or Standard Ebooks, bundle purchases and many small shops come without DRM and convert normally.
Processed by calibre on our server
calibre cannot run inside a browser, so your book is sent over HTTPS to our server and converted in a process that has no internet access.
The original and the converted book are deleted right after the result is returned; there is no stored library or history.
Questions
Which target should I pick for a Kobo?
EPUB. Kobo readers open standard EPUB files directly, and the cover, chapters and metadata appear in the library as they would for a store book.
Can I convert to plain text for a screen reader or notes?
Yes. Plain text keeps only the words, without images or styling, which is handy for quoting passages or loading the book into tools that expect TXT.
Can I convert my Kindle purchases?
Only DRM-free ones. Most Kindle Store titles are protected, and this tool does not remove DRM.
Is there a size limit?
95 MB per book, plenty for illustrated EPUBs and comics. A typical novel is under 2 MB.
