How to use the Rotate PDF
- Add the PDF, or several if they all need the same fix.
- Pick the angle: 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° anticlockwise.
- Choose all pages, odd pages, even pages, or type a list such as 3, 8-10.
- Press Rotate and save the corrected copy.
Turning the page, not redrawing it
Each PDF page has an orientation value in quarter turns. The tool adjusts that value and writes the file again; the text, fonts and images on the page are left as they are, so nothing gets blurrier.
The angle you choose is added to what the page already had. A page currently shown at 90° and rotated another 90° ends up at 180°.
Common office fixes
Scanners with a document feeder often flip every back side. Choosing even pages with 180° corrects a whole stack at once, and adding a folder of such scans fixes them all with the same setting.
Spreadsheets and charts printed in landscape and then scanned in portrait usually need a single page or two turned by 90°. Type just those page numbers and leave the rest alone.
Speed on big files
Because no page is decoded or redrawn, a 300-page scan rotates almost as fast as a two-page letter. Only one value per page changes before the file is saved again.
You can follow up with Reorder PDF pages if the same duplex scan also came out with the back sides in reverse order.
Questions
My viewer already shows the page the right way. Why rotate the file?
Many viewers only turn the page on your screen without saving it. Once you email or print the file, the page is sideways again. This tool stores the rotation in the PDF itself.
Can I straighten a slightly crooked scan?
No. PDF rotation works in steps of 90 degrees only, so a scan that is tilted by a few degrees stays tilted.
Is the PDF sent anywhere?
No. The change is made in your browser and the file is saved from there.
