How the pages are built
calibre unpacks the Kindle file, using its KF8 layer where one exists, then sets the text on A4 sheets with equal margins and a number at the foot of each page. Every entry in the book’s contents becomes a PDF bookmark.
Images and covers keep their original resolution. In older MOBI files that is often only about 600 pixels wide, which looks fine on screen but can print a little soft.
When PDF is the right target
Choose PDF for printing, stylus notes and laptops or tablets where you cannot install a reader app. On a small phone, fixed A4 pages need constant zooming, so EPUB is the better choice there.
Kindle store purchases are DRM-locked, so conversion is refused and the tool reports this instead of handing back an empty file.
Upload and deletion
The conversion runs calibre on our server, so the book is sent over HTTPS and processed in an isolated process.
The ebook and the PDF are deleted right after the converted file is returned to you.

Do I get clickable chapters?
Yes. Every entry in the book’s table of contents turns into a PDF bookmark, so you can jump to a chapter from the bookmarks panel of your viewer.
Why so many pages?
Kindle styling is meant for small screens, so an A4 page holds less text than a paperback page. Print two pages per sheet to halve the paper.
What if the server says to wait?
